According to the Delhi Police, Wangchuk was moved to Safdarjung Hospital on the advice of medical experts and in accordance with the Delhi High Court’s orders.
The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) said Wangchuk was shifted for essential medical care due to his declining health. Police added that while carrying out the exercise, some protesters attempted to obstruct the process, resulting in a brief commotion. However, officials said maximum restraint was exercised during the operation.
Meanwhile, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke was briefly detained by the Delhi Police before being released. In a post on X, Dipke alleged that he was assaulted during detention. Police have not officially responded to the allegation.
After his release, Dipke addressed supporters at Jantar Mantar and said the protest would continue. He announced that the organisation would proceed with its planned march to Parliament on July 20.
CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka also alleged that police used force against protesters and blocked roads leading to Jantar Mantar. Ranka appealed to people to participate in peaceful demonstrations.
Hours before being shifted to the hospital, Wangchuk released a video message urging people to continue raising concerns over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination. Referring to the planned march to Parliament, he called on supporters to assemble on July 20.
The protest has drawn attention amid continuing political debate over the handling of the NEET-UG examination controversy.
