Army Wives Welfare Association Member Mrs Kiran Uniyal Achieved Guinness World Record

Mrs Kiran Uniyal is mother of two children, wife of Colonel Sunil Uniyal, a serving Army Officer in Secunderabad Military Station, is a passionate Martial Arts Practitioner. Since her childhood she was always there in one or the other sports. Being a diehard fan of Bruce Lee, she joined Taekwondo in her teenage. After a long gap in between again, she re-joined Taekwondo and since then have been practicing it.

She has so far achieved 11 World Records including 6 Guinness World Records in Martial Arts, Fitness & Social Work. She is also a Philanthropist working for many causes like Blood Donation, Blood Donors Motivator and has been working for disables, martyred families, Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan, Tree plantation, supporting Orphanages, Mentally Destitute Ashram, etc. Her husband, an enthusiastic marathon runner has been equally involved in the social activities with her. Both were conferred with Honorary Doctorate for their social work and fitness. They together authored a book for special children of Armed Forces personnel, “Empowering Divyangjan: A Compendium of benefits and facilities for differently abled children of the Armed Forces”, a first of its kind book, which was published by Artillery Centre Golconda and presented to Mrs Madhulika Rawat, President Army Wives Welfare Association(AWWA).

She coordinated the Largest Cancer Awareness Session with Government MNJ Cancer Hospital, which got first Guinness World Record for the Telangana Health Department. She has been also working for the Martyrs families, disabled soldiers and Next of Kin of deceased. She has started a campaign “#knowyourmartysfamilies” to make people aware and also to recognise the Martyred families, besides helping the widows of the deceased, whose husbands have lost their lives other then in military operations in the line of duty. They have been coordinating with Armed Forces/NCC in various awareness campaigns, viz World AIDS Day, World Blood Donors Day, World Diabetics Day, etc.

Being a Taekwondo practitioner, she has been promoting it as a self-defence, fitness and sports for girls/women safety and self-defence by organising various sessions for them. She wants every girl and women to learn martial arts for her self-defence and fitness.She has strong belief in “Self Defence for Self Help”.She wants girls and women to be strong both mentally and physically to face any eventuality.

She recently created and achieved Guinness World Record for “Most full contact elbow strikes (one hand) in 3 minutes, 466 strikes” which features among the Best of Guinness World Record official videoof Jan 2019. She probably is first women from the families of Armed Forces/Paramilitary Forces to achieve an individual Guinness World Record in India and Telangana in Martial Arts. She has dedicated her Guinness World Record to the Armed Forces women.

She has a 100% differently abled girl child who is an inspiration for her & her husband. Her son Kartik Uniyal is also a black belt in Taekwondo and he too holds 2 Guinness World Records and achieved his first Guinness World Record at the age of 5 years. Kiran Uniyal has proved that not only our Army men but even their wives are also mentally & physically strong, as women can achieve and excel in any field in spite of challenges in their lives with their sheer hard work, will power, zeal and determination.
