Asaduddin Owaisi On Gulf Indians, Unemployment At Hyderabad’s Youm-ul-Quran Jalsa
Hyderabad, Mar 20 (Maxim News) : AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi addressed a large gathering at the Jalsa Youm-ul-Qur’an held at the historic Makkah Masjid on the occasion of the last Friday of Ramazan.
In his address, he spoke on a range of national and international issues, expressing concern over recent developments.
Referring to the US–Israel–Iran conflict, he questioned the timing of the Prime Minister’s visit to Israel, alleging that it coincided with escalating tensions.
Asaduddin Owaisi remarked that if India had maintained a truly neutral position, its voice would have carried greater influence globally.
Asad Owaisi also highlighted the concerns of Indian citizens residing in Gulf countries, stating that nearly 1 crore Indians live and work there and contribute approximately 50% of the country’s foreign exchange inflows.
Owaisi questioned whether adequate attention was being given to their welfare in light of current geopolitical tensions.
Speaking on economic issues, he pointed out that India’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is sufficient for only 9.5 days, and raised concerns over disruptions in exports, including fruits and basmati rice, due to logistical challenges.
Asaduddin Owaisi criticized divisive calls for economic boycotts targeting specific communities.
Addressing recent incidents, he condemned the booking of cases against 11 individuals for breaking their fast on a boat in the Ganga, calling it unjust and discriminatory.
Owaisi questioned the selective nature of such actions and emphasized the need for equal treatment under the law.
On governance and law enforcement, he raised concerns over unemployment among educated youth, stating that nearly 67% of graduates are unemployed. He also criticized restrictions affecting cattle and buffalo transport, questioning their impact on livelihoods.
Asaduddin Owaisi further remarked that in Uttam Nagar New Delhi, Muslims are being compelled to approach courts to freely practice and celebrate their eid, which he termed as a worrying trend.
Highlighting social indicators, he stated that Gujarat has a literacy rate of 69%, while Lakshadweep records 75% literacy. He also pointed out that a significant number of women in Gujarat suffer from anemia.
Additionally, he raised concerns about housing discrimination, alleging that while Muslims are permitted to sell property, restrictions are imposed on Hindus selling property to Muslims, and questioned the push for a Uniform Civil Code in such a context. (Maxim News)
