Asaduddin Owaisi writes letter to Amit Shah; demands him to declare September 17 as National unity day

Hyderabad, Sept.3 (NSS): AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded him to declare upcoming September 17 as the National unity day.

In his letter, he asked Amit Shah as to why the BJP led central government did not hold the September 17 celebrations in an official manner in its last eight yearlong rule. He told the union home minister that they would take out a massive Tiranga rally on September 17 in the old city area of the state capital. He reminded Shah that Hindus and Muslims of the then Hyderabad princely state fought for the liberation of Telangana state. He made it clear that the fight of the then Hyderabad state was not meant for the liberation of a piece of land but it was against immigration of people, feudalism and autocracy.

He told the Union Home Minister that the Razakars who carried out physical attacks on the people of the Hyderabad state, left for Pakistan after its liberation and those who wanted to stay in their own land, stayed back in Hyderabad. Noting that the central government has decided to hold September 17 as Telangana liberation day, he said that he was also writing a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He made it clear to Amit Shah that their party had never opposed the liberation of the Hyderabad state and added that September 17 was nothing but the merger of the princely state into the Indian union. He reminded the union home minister that leaders like Turrebaaz Khan and Maqdoom Mohiuddin fougth ferociously for the merger of the Hyderabad state and added that none should forget their sacrifices.

Owaisi said that they would hold a public meeting in the old city on September 17 to celebrate the merger of the princely state and added that all the MLAs of their party would take part in the public meeting. He also said that they would hold a bike rally on the occasion. Owaisi called upon all the people of the state to take part in the celebrations including the public meeting. (NSS)
