Hyderabad, August 2: Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand Sajjanar on Sunday said the Ashada Bonalu festival has a rich historical background in Hyderabad and highlighted the extensive security arrangements made to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

CP Sajjanar, accompanied by his wife, visited the Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad during the annual Lashkar Bonalu festivities. The couple offered special prayers to Goddess Mahankali and sought blessings for the well-being, prosperity and long life of the people.
Speaking to the media, Sajjanar said Ashada Bonalu is an integral part of Hyderabad’s cultural and religious heritage and noted that the celebrations are being held peacefully across the city.
He said the Bonalu festivals at Golconda and Balkampet concluded without any untoward incidents, while the celebrations at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple and Lal Darwaza Mahankali Temple are currently underway on a grand scale.
The Police Commissioner said the Hyderabad City Police have implemented elaborate security measures to ensure the safety of devotees attending the festival.
According to him, around 2,500 police personnel have been deployed at key locations, while advanced AI enabled CCTV cameras have been installed around the temple and surrounding areas for continuous surveillance.
Sajjanar appealed to devotees to celebrate the festival peacefully and cooperate with the police to ensure the successful and incident-free conduct of the Bonalu festivities.
