Asian Games 2026 | Hyderabad, Sept. 30: Indian women archers created history at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, winning gold in the women’s compound team event.
The Indian trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi defeated China 238-234 in the final.
The Indian archers produced a composed performance throughout the title clash. They maintained their accuracy under pressure and secured another Asian Games gold for India in the compound team event.
The 238-point score also matched the existing world record for the women’s compound team event. India entered the final after beating South Korea 234-233 in a closely fought semifinal.
Asian Games 2026 Gold Adds to India’s Archery Success
Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi had earlier topped the women’s compound team qualification jointly with China. Both teams recorded 2,099 points, while South Korea finished third with 2,096.
India then defeated Kazakhstan 233-230 in the quarterfinal before edging South Korea in the semifinal. The team carried that momentum into the final and produced another high-scoring performance against China.
The victory also strengthens India’s record in women’s compound archery at the Asian Games. The Indian team entered the competition as the defending champions and retained the title with its victory in Aichi-Nagoya.
The gold adds another major medal to India’s campaign at the 2026 Asian Games, with the country continuing to compete across archery and several other disciplines.
