Ayodhya/Hyderabad, July 4 (Maxim News): Prominent seers in Ayodhya have extended their support to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, urging the Trust not to accept his resignation amid the ongoing controversy over alleged irregularities in temple donation management.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, the seers described the allegations against Rai as baseless and maintained that his decades-long association with the Ram Mandir movement has been marked by honesty, transparency, and dedication. They said the accusations appeared to be an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
The saints also welcomed the government’s decision to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations, noting that Rai himself had sought an independent investigation, reflecting his confidence and transparency.
Seers Seek Transparency from Trust
The seers also questioned Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri over the arrangements for safeguarding temple donations and sought an explanation for convening the Trust meeting ahead of schedule.
They stressed that the Ram Mandir is a symbol of faith for millions of devotees and called for complete transparency to maintain public confidence.
Several religious leaders reiterated their support for Rai while speaking to IANS.
Saint Raghavesh Das Vedanti said the saints have requested the Trust not to accept Rai’s resignation and expressed confidence that the SIT investigation would reveal the truth.
Mahant Shashikant Das of Ram Kachahari Temple alleged that there was an attempt to remove Rai without evidence, while Mahant Vaidehi Vallabh Sharan of Vaidehi Bhawan praised Rai’s integrity and said the controversy would soon pass.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is scheduled to hold a key meeting on July 6 to consider the resignations submitted by Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra. The Trust is also expected to discuss the ongoing SIT probe into the alleged irregularities concerning temple donations and their management.
