Hyderabad: The famous Balapur Ganesh laddu fetched a record ₹39 lakh at the annual auction on Thursday, September 25.
Sama Praneeth Reddy, head of Urban Groups and a resident of Saheb Nagar in Vanasthalipuram, won the auction with the highest bid.
The winning bid was ₹4 lakh higher than last year’s ₹35 lakh. The auction is held every year as part of the Balapur Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Balapur Laddu Auction Tradition Began in 1994
The Balapur Ganesh laddu auction began in 1994, when the first laddu was sold for just ₹450.
Since then, the annual auction has become a prominent part of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Balapur. The winning bids have steadily increased over the years.
The laddu fetched ₹35 lakh in 2025. This year’s ₹39 lakh bid has set a new record for the auction.
35-Year-Old Entrepreneur Wins Auction
Praneeth Reddy, 35, is a businessman associated with Urban Groups. According to the information provided, he recently returned from the United States and started his business under the Urban Groups name.
The Vanasthalipuram-based entrepreneur secured the auspicious Balapur laddu at this year’s auction.
The ₹39 lakh winning bid marks an increase of ₹4 lakh over last year’s record and adds another chapter to the long-running Balapur Ganesh laddu auction tradition.
