Bank Holidays on August 25, 26 and 28: Check City-Wise List

Hyderabad: Banks across different parts of India will remain closed on August 25, 26 and 28 due to regional festivals and important religious occasions.

However, these holidays will not apply uniformly across the country. Bank closures depend on the state and city, as the Reserve Bank of India follows a region-specific holiday calendar.

Customers planning to visit a bank branch should therefore check the holiday applicable to their location before making a trip.

Bank Holidays on August 26

A larger number of cities will observe a bank holiday on August 26.

The cities include Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

The closures are linked to occasions such as Id-E-Milad, Barawafat, Milad-un-Nabi and Thiruvonam.

Therefore, customers in these locations should verify branch availability before visiting their banks.

Bank Holidays on August 28

Banks will also remain closed on August 28 in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

The holiday is associated with various regional occasions, including Raksha Bandhan, Pang-Lhabsol, the Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti and Ayyankali Jayanti.

Digital Banking Services to Remain Available

Although physical bank branches may remain closed, customers can generally continue using mobile banking, internet banking and ATMs.

However, availability of certain branch-specific services may be affected during holidays.

Since the Reserve Bank of India follows a region-specific bank holiday calendar, a holiday in one city does not necessarily mean that bank branches will be closed across the country.

Customers are advised to check the local bank holiday schedule before planning a branch visit to avoid inconvenience.
