BJP MLAs’ suspension: HC issues notices to Legislature secretary

Hyderabad, March 9 (Maxim News): The Telangana High Court today issued notices to the secretary of the State legislature on the issue of the suspension of the MLAs of the BJP by Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. The HC passed the orders after hearing a petition filed by the three MLAs challenging the decision of their suspension by the Speaker of the House.

Arguing the case on behalf of the BJP MLAs, Prakash Reddy said the State government had suspended their party MLAs without following the existing rules of the Assembly and by violating the Indian Constitution and the Assembly rules. He said the Legislature secretary was also not giving the proceedings copy of their suspension. Arguing the case on behalf of the State government, Advocate General BS Prasad told the HC that no court should interfere into the issues related to the Assembly. The HC later adjourned the matter till Thursday for further hearing. (Maxim News)
