Center submits report to NGT on Rayalaseema project

New Delhi, Sept.8 (Maxim News): The Central government today submitted its report on the controversial Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme of Andhra Pradesh State to National Green Tribunal (NGT) Chennai.

In its report, Union Ministry of Environment and Forests , in its report, stated that it had stopped the works of the project now. It mentioned about a report submitted by Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) on the project . It also told the tribubal that Permissions and clearances related to environment. Meanwhile , AP government had urged the tribunal to conserve their arguments over the competency of the tribunal to take action against it regarding the alleged violations committed by it. It sought time from the tribunal on the issue .

It may be noted here that the Telangana government had already submitted pictures and videos before the tribunal to prove that the works on the project were going on at the project site . The tribunal later adjourned the matter to the 16th of this month. (Maxim News)
