Speaking at a press conference held at Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, Hyderabad DCC President Sameer Waliullah, and other leaders stated that the Chief Minister had initiated the Musi Riverfront Development Project and allocated Rs 1,000 crore in the budget. Additionally, the Chief Minister approved the Metro Rail project in the Old City, highlighting the proposed corridor from MGBS via Falaknuma, Shalibanda, and Shamsheergunj to RGIA as beneficial. The Metro Rail Stretch from MGBS to Falaknuma is set to be completed as part of Phase-I construction. The leaders also affirmed that the Congress Government would finalize the construction of IT Towers in Malakpet.

The Congress leaders emphasized that lakhs of people in the Old City would benefit from the six guarantees of the Congress Government. They disclosed that of the 24.74 lakh applications received during the Praja Palana program, approximately 5.08 lakh applications are from the Charminar zone alone.

“Given these programs, MIM is now afraid of the Congress party. On one side, MIM is attempting to create a false impression of being friendly with Congress. On the other side, it is making top BJP leaders mention MIM’s name in every media interaction,” said Nizamuddin.

The TPCC Spokesperson highlighted that Telangana BJP President Kishan Reddy, General Secretary Bandi Sanjay, MLA Raja Singh, and others have claimed that BJP will win the Hyderabad seat in the next elections. He underscored the substantial gap between MIM and BJP vote shares in Hyderabad since the delimitation of seats in 2009. “Since 2009, MIM has been winning the Hyderabad seat with a margin of over 1 lakh votes. The gap between MIM and BJP votes was 1,13,865 in 2009, 2,02,454 in 2014, and 2,82,186 in 2019. Therefore, the BJP can’t win the Hyderabad seat. However, by making BJP leaders mention MIM’s name in all speeches, the Owaisi brothers are trying to create a false impression that they are fighting against BJP. In the coming elections, Congress will not only give a tough fight to MIM but also win the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat,” he asserted.

Hyderabad DCC President Sameer Waliullah criticized MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, stating that he has been delivering the same speech in the ongoing budget session of the Assembly for the past 20 years.

“In fact, in every session, Akbaruddin Owaisi admits that MIM has failed to develop the Old City of Hyderabad. Instead of admitting MIM’s failure, Akbaruddin Owaisi blames the respective government. MIM leaders have become accustomed to surrendering before the ruling party. MIM was friendly with TDP until 2004, then with Congress until 2011, then with TRS until 2023, and is now attempting to be friendly with Congress again,” alleged Waliullah.

The Congress leader stated that MIM’s survival strategy is straightforward – keep the Old City backward, praise the present government, and criticize the previous governments. “MIM was friendly with BRS for over nine years, from 2014 to 2023. However, it could not secure a single project for the Old City of Hyderabad. In the 2014 elections, TRS/BRS promised to shift Chanchalguda Jail and Malakpet Race Course, but MIM never questioned the KCR government for its failure. It also remained silent on the 12% Muslim reservation issue and defended the KCR government when it demolished nine mosques,” he remarked. Sameer Waliullah concluded by asserting that MIM is now attempting to appear friendly with Congress out of fear of losing in the next Lok Sabha elections. “The Congress party has strengthened its base in Hyderabad and is likely to win the seat in the upcoming elections. In the last five years, the Congress party has bolstered its organizational strength in the Old City, with regular bodies in almost all 49 divisions in Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituencies,” he said, confirming that he is among the top aspirants for the party ticket from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat.
