Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday urged Members of Parliament from the state to work together beyond party lines and seek the Centre’s support for major infrastructure and development projects, saying cooperation between the Union and State governments is essential for Telangana’s progress.
Addressing a meeting of Telangana MPs at Praja Bhavan, the Chief Minister said the state’s development should remain above politics and called on BJP MPs to play a proactive role in securing Central approvals and funding for several pending projects.
Revanth Reddy stressed the need to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad and sought the Centre’s cooperation for the Hyderabad Metro expansion, urging that loan approvals be expedited to accelerate the project.
The Chief Minister said land acquisition for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) has largely been completed and appealed for Central financial support to complete the project.
He also sought the Centre’s assistance in securing approval for the Urban Challenge Fund to support the Musi River rejuvenation project.
CM seeks approvals for irrigation, airports and rail projects
Highlighting irrigation projects, Revanth Reddy said discussions had already been held with Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil during the inauguration of Tungabhadra gates.
He said Andhra Pradesh is yet to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for projects sanctioned during the undivided Andhra Pradesh, including 30 TMC for the Dindi project and 90 TMC for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.
The Chief Minister said the NOC issue is under discussion and urged the Centre to facilitate the process, adding that approvals for the proposed 120 TMC would help speed up the irrigation projects.
Revanth Reddy also said the proposed Godavari-Cauvery river linking project would benefit Telangana and reiterated that the state government would openly acknowledge the Centre’s support whenever it extends cooperation.
He further requested the Centre to expedite approvals for the Tummidihatti project, port connectivity, bullet train project, and the proposed airports at Adilabad and Warangal.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Advisor Jitender Reddy, and MPs including Mallu Ravi, Anil Kumar Yadav, Raghuveer Reddy, Kadiyam Kavya, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Raghuram Reddy, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, and Eatala Rajender, among others.
