New Delhi, August 1: State owned Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than Rs 200 across major cities from August 1, offering relief to restaurants, hotels and other commercial establishments.
The latest revision lowers the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 202 in Delhi and Rs 209 in Kolkata.
Following the reduction, the price of a commercial cylinder in Kolkata now stands at Rs 2,872.50.
The price cut applies only to commercial LPG cylinders. The prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders used by households remain unchanged.
The reduction follows another revision on July 1, when OMCs lowered commercial LPG cylinder prices by up to Rs 183.50 across major cities.
Commercial LPG prices had witnessed multiple increases in recent months due to rising global energy prices linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The latest revision comes as global energy markets continue to stabilise.
Earlier, the government eased LPG supply restrictions for commercial and industrial users after fuel availability improved. It restored 50 per cent of supplies to customers whose allocations had been suspended to prioritise domestic household demand.
The Centre had also directed that C3 C4 hydrocarbon streams be used exclusively for LPG production under the Essential Commodities Act during the supply crunch. In addition, Oil Marketing Companies have been instructed to maintain comprehensive data on commercial and industrial LPG consumers to improve supply planning and management.
