Congress cadre fully charged, rejuvenated to win LS elections: Uttam

  • TPCC chief happy with outcome of brainstorming sessions

Hyderabad, February 17 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress party would give an impressive performance by winning almost all seats in Telangana in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing party leaders from Chevella, Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Medak Lok Sabha constituencies in separate meetings on the third and last day of brainstorming on Sunday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress cadre was fully geared up to face the Lok Sabha elections. “During the last three days, we had a serious introspection on the factors that led to party’s defeat in last Assembly elections. Congress leaders from all 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana came up with many constructive, valuable and practical suggestions and they would be incorporated in the party’s final strategy for elections. The brainstorming sessions have proved that the entire Congress cadre was fully charged and rejuvenated to face and win the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the narrative for Lok Sabha elections would be different from what it was in Assembly elections. “Voting for Parliament is not about KCR or TRS. This will be a vote to elect next Prime Minister of India and people would certainly prefer Congress president Rahul Gandhi over BJP’s Narender Modi. “India needs a visionary leader like Rahul Gandhi and not a person like Modi who cheated the nation with his lies and deception. Except for making tall promises and staking false claims, BJP Govt did nothing during the last five years. Therefore, Rahul Gandhi is the obvious choice of people as the next Prime Minister,” h said.

“BJP-led NDA Government has failed on all fronts. PM Modi was given a huge mandate in 2014 elections. But he disappointed everyone by not fulfilling any of the promises made with the people. Unemployed youth are upset over non-creation of 2 crore jobs every year. Rs. 15 lakh, which PM Modi had promised to deposit in each account by bringing back black money stashed in foreign countries, proved to be a mirage. Farmers did not get MSP and thousands of them committed suicide. Instead of fulfilling the electoral promises, Modi Government created a divide among people on religious lines. Therefore, BJP and people like KCR who supported PM Modi in all his moves deserve to be defeated in next Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also accused the BJP-led NDA Government of creating a sense of insecurity among minorities in the country. He said people were targeted just for what they eat, how they dress and to whom they get married. “The next elections will be between secular forces who want to keep the nation united and the communal elements who are desperately trying to divide the country,” he said.

The TPCC Chief asked the Congress cadre to understand the narrative of Lok Sabha election and take it to the people in its true form. He also announced that the party would take steps to empower the cadre at booth level and also involve it in running the election campaign in the most effective manner. He said next Lok Sabha elections could be won only through proper planning, coordination, monitoring and execution of strategy. He said weeding out fake voters and inclusion of genuine voters in the electoral rolls should be taken up as the first task across the State.

Uttam Kumar Reddy directed the party cadre of Hyderabad and Secunderabad constituencies to strengthen the organisation and network. He said that Secunderabad has been a traditional Congress seat since beginning. Except for Nampally assembly segment, Congress was strong in all other constituencies falling under Secunderabad LS seat. But this gap too has been bridged in the last Assembly elections and now Congress is strong in Nampally too. Therefore, he said Secunderabad would be in the list of seats destined to be won by the Congress.

Similarly, the TPCC Chief said that the Congress would field a strong candidate in Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. He said that the Congress party had never focussed on Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat in the past due to its alliance with MIM. But this time, the Congress party would give a tough contest to win the seat.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that people still had suspicions over the reliability of EVMs. “EVM tampering, biased attitude of Election Commission, misuse of official machinery by TRS and huge flow of illegal money and liquor by the ruling party were among the primary reasons for Congress party’s defeat in last elections. This time, all Congress workers should be alert and vigilant to prevent recurrence of these factors,” he said.

AICC Telangana Incharge R.C. Khuntia directed the leaders to focus on strengthening the organisation at all levels. He said appointments up to booth level should be completed at the earliest.

CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikarmarka and other senior leaders also addressed the brainstorming session which concluded today. (Maxim News)
