Hyderabad, April 24 (Maxim News): Senior IPS officer C.V. Anand of the 1991 batch is set to become the next Director General of Police of Telangana, with the state government reportedly finalising his name for the top post.
The appointment is expected as current DGP Shivdhar Reddy is scheduled to retire on April 31, prompting the government to move quickly on naming a full time successor.
Sources said an official announcement is likely soon.
C.V. Anand is considered a strong contender due to his wide administrative experience and proven leadership in law and order management, especially during his tenure as Hyderabad Police Commissioner.
His handling of policing reforms, technology driven initiatives and public safety measures has reportedly earned the confidence of the state leadership.
CV Anand Likely to Lead Police Reforms
Officials said the government recently completed a major reshuffle of IPS officers, clearing the way for the next phase of appointments.
With that process now over, the file related to the DGP appointment is expected to move shortly.
If appointed, Anand is likely to oversee key reforms in the police department, including modernisation, internal restructuring and expansion of technology based policing systems.
Analysts believe the new leadership could bring fresh momentum to policing standards across Telangana.
The government is also said to be focusing on strengthening crime control, traffic management, cyber policing and citizen services in urban and rural areas.
C.V. Anand has served in several important positions during his career and is known for administrative discipline and operational efficiency.
His expected elevation comes at a time when Telangana is pushing for faster governance reforms and stronger institutional delivery.
Clear orders on the appointment are likely before the end of this month.
The development is being closely watched in bureaucratic and political circles as the DGP post remains one of the most significant positions in the state administration.
