Hyderabad, March 17: Drug Test Challenge dominated the political debate as TPCC chief and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud questioned the BRS over alleged drug issues in the state. He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is ready for a drug test and challenged opposition leaders to follow.

Speaking in the Legislative Council, Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that drugs like ganja and cocaine are easily available in the state. He questioned whether the BRS, which ruled Telangana for ten years, was responsible for the situation. He also criticised certain leaders for alleged involvement in drug trade and called it shameful.

Meanwhile, he openly challenged BRS leaders to undergo drug testing. He said if BRS agrees, the tests can be conducted immediately. He also stated that he would convince the Chief Minister to proceed with the tests. He stressed that all public representatives should undergo drug tests to send a strong message to society.

He further said that the Congress would bring all those who received B-forms from the party for testing. At the same time, he asked the BRS to do the same with its candidates. He questioned BRS members about supporting leaders caught in such cases. He warned that no one involved in the case would be spared, regardless of their status.

Meanwhile, he raised concerns about a farmhouse incident and asked whether the person caught there belonged to the BRS. He criticised the party for not taking action against its former MLA who allegedly tested positive for drugs. He also questioned why a particular leader’s name surfaces whenever drugs are discussed.

He added that common people are struggling to protect their children from drugs. He claimed that ganja and cocaine spread widely in the state over the past ten years and said this statement is on record. He also questioned what message public representatives give if they are involved in such activities.

Further, he said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is taking steps to control the situation by forming the EAGLE team. He added that people already know who avoided drug tests in the past. The remarks have intensified the political confrontation between Congress and BRS.
