Dust storm hits Delhi-NCR; night-like morning in Punjab, Haryana

A massive dust storm followed by intermittent spells of rain hit Delhi, Noida and nearby areas, bringing down the temperature in the NCR region on Sunday.

Delhi-NCR witnessed a sunny morning, but the visibility got reduced to a minimum around noon as dark clouds covered the sky and rain and high-velocity winds swept the region.

While dust storm hit Delhi-NCR, sky turned dark in Punjab and parts of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday morning and heavy rain lashing the northern part of the country.

According to Met department, the development in weather conditions is a result of an active western disturbance. Thundery development with light to medium showers is expected to further bring down the temperature, the weather department added.

Many people in the Delhi-NCR area took to social media to post pictures and videos of the dust storm.

As per forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there are chances of rain and thunderstorms for the next 3-4 days in Delhi and nearby areas.
