Eggs Now Cost More In Telangana: Problem For Egg Lovers

Hyderabad, Jan  2 (Maxim News): Egg lovers in Telangana are shelling out more to enjoy their breakfast staple as prices have jumped sharply in recent weeks. This sudden spike of Eggs price has left people worried and wondering what’s causing the hike.

Remember last Christmas? Well, it seems the festive cheer carried over to egg consumption, and guess what? The price did too! Just a week ago, one egg cost Rs.6, but now it’s a steep Rs.7. That’s a 17% increase, if you’re keeping track!

But wait, there’s more. A dozen eggs, which used to cost Rs.72, now burns a hole in your pocket for Rs.84. That’s a 17% jump again! Even chicken isn’t spared, with prices in Kartika rising from Rs.170 to Rs.240 per kilo – a whopping 41% increase!

Now, you might be wondering why Telangana, which produces tons of eggs (third highest in the country!), is facing this issue. Turns out, the recent cold snap hasn’t been kind to hens, and their egg-laying has taken a dip. Not cool, Mother Nature!

But that’s not the only reason. Egg prices are also feeling the pinch of rising costs. Feeding the hens costs more – soybean feed prices are up 44% and corn prices have climbed 11% in just a year! And don’t forget, even getting the feed to the farms costs more thanks to higher transport costs.

So, what’s the bottom line? Egg prices are up due to a combination of factors – more people eating eggs, less eggs being laid, and the rising cost of everything from feed to fuel. This is making life difficult for both consumers and the poultry industry.

The good news is that the industry is working hard to tackle these challenges. Hopefully, things will soon stabilize and egg prices will come back down to earth, giving everyone a reason to crack a smile again! (Maxim News)
