Elephant Trial Walk To Affect Traffic In Old City On June 20

Hyderabad, June 20: The Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions and restrictions in parts of the Old City on June 20 in view of the Elephant Trial Walk procession from Bibi-ka-Alawa. The restrictions will remain in force between 12 noon and 1 pm to ensure smooth movement of the procession and public safety.

According to police, traffic will face temporary diversions at several key junctions, including Etebar Chowk, Purani Haveli, Bibi Bazar, Gulzar House, Charminar, Nayapool, Miralam Mandi, Chaderghat Rotary, and Alawa Sartauq. Officials will implement diversions based on the procession’s movement and prevailing traffic conditions.

Vehicles coming from Etebar Chowk towards Bada Bazar will be diverted towards Kotla Alija or Purana Haveli. Similarly, traffic from Purani Haveli, Moghalpura, Volta Hotel, Mitti-ka-Sher, Madina, and Moghalpura Water Tank areas will be redirected through alternate routes whenever the procession passes through nearby locations.

Traffic Diversions Around Charminar and Old City

When the procession reaches Charminar, police will stop traffic coming from Shakkerkote and divert vehicles towards Ghansi Bazar or Chelapura. Likewise, vehicles approaching Charminar from Nayapool will be diverted at Madina X Road towards City College.

Authorities will also restrict movement near Chowk Maidan Khan, Gulzar House, and Etebar Chowk during the procession. Therefore, motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternate routes.

Meanwhile, APSRTC and TGSRTC district buses will operate on diverted routes during the event. Officials will route buses through Rang Mahal and Afzalgunj for both entry and exit. However, buses will be allowed to travel on Kalikabar and Miralam Mandi roads until the procession reaches its final destination.

Police Advisory

The Hyderabad Traffic Police have urged commuters to avoid affected routes during the procession period. Moreover, motorists should follow traffic personnel instructions and use alternative roads to prevent delays.

Officials stated that these measures are necessary to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Elephant Trial Walk and minimize inconvenience to the public. Traffic police will monitor the situation continuously and make adjustments whenever required.
