Hyderabad, May 1: The Telangana government is considering allotting house sites to eligible journalists working in the city, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said on Friday.
He made the announcement during a meeting with representatives of journalists’ housing societies in Hyderabad.
Govt Positive On Resolving Long-Pending Issue
The minister said the government is keen to resolve the long-pending demand for house sites.
He assured that discussions are underway with concerned departments.
Clear guidelines on allotment are expected to be issued soon.
Representatives of housing societies highlighted their concerns and demands during the meeting.
The minister responded positively and appreciated the unity among journalists on the issue.
He assured that all aspects would be examined before taking a final decision.
Expansion To Districts Also Planned
Leaders of the Telangana Working Journalists Union (TUWJ) urged the government to extend the benefit beyond Hyderabad.

They requested that journalists in districts also be considered for house site allotments.
Responding to this, the minister assured that once the process begins in Hyderabad, it will be expanded across the state.
Officials including Media Academy Chairman K Srinivas Reddy and Information Commissioner Mukunda Reddy were present at the meeting.
