Fact Check Classes for Social Media Houses In Telangana

Hyderabad, Oct 10: Media organizations of Telangana have come together to form a new association to provide a single platform for the members to voice their concerns.

Digital Media Publishers and Broadcasters Federation (DMP&BF) is a registered self regulatory body as per IT Act 2021.

The self-regulatory framework envisions creation of a panel headed by either a retired chief justice or a judge of the Supreme Court or one of the high Courts of the country. Other members will be drawn from the ranks of the industry, independent technology policy experts and one or two members as appointed by the government, said Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin, General Secretary DMP&BF.

On the latest developments, DMP&BF said that it “echoes the government sentiment about self-regulation as a policy intervention. We believe that it is the ideal scenario for all the stakeholders involved as it helps achieve the government’s goal with minimal business disruption. Keeping this in mind DMP&BF has also proposed self-regulation as a recommendation in our formal response to the government’s consultation on the proposed amendments to IT Rules of 2021.”

The Digital Medial Publishers and Broadcasters Federation (DMP&BF) has also announced the launch of its membership drive.

As part of the self regulatory body, DMP&BF has an aim to educate their members and journalists fraternity in general. In this direction, a fact check training program is being conducted in fourth week of this month on first-come first-serve basis irrespective of language. The Classes will be of 5-6 hours and will be charged Rs. 500/-
