Mulugu, August 4: A 62-year-old farmer died after being electrocuted while working in his agricultural field at Devnagar village in Mallampalli mandal of Mulugu district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Porla Veeraiah, a resident of Devnagar village.
According to police, Veeraiah had gone to his farmland in the morning to irrigate his crops when he accidentally stepped on a live electricity wire near the field. He suffered a severe electric shock, collapsed on the spot and died instantly.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s family members, the local police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the presence of the live wire in the agricultural field.
