Farmers urged to focus on oil palm cultivation
Siddipet, April 28 (Maxim News): Finance Minister T Harish Rao urged the farmers to focus on the oil palm cultivation for getting more benefits.
Harish Rao on Thursday participated in the house warming celebrations of 50 double bed rooms at Pothareddypeta village of Dubbaka mandal in Siddipet district. Later, he inaugurated a cluster building of the Rythu Vedika.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Harish Rao said that India is the major importer of edible oil and most of the oil comes from Malaysia, Indonesia and Ukraine countries. Recently, the price of edible oil shot up due to the war between Ukraine and Russia. On the other hand, Indonesia and Malaysia have stopped their exporting of edible oil to India.
At this juncture, the best way to meet the demand of edible oil is to cultivate the oil palm in a big way.
The Minister said that the State government is coming forward to push for oil palm cultivation in a big way, and farmers should take up such crops to get benefited from its yield
“The oil palm cultivation is suitable for India and there is a potential of cultivating the crop in another 50 lakh acres. In Telangana, the State government is offering subsidy to the farmers in a big way. Farmers can avail the facility to get more benefits,” Harish Rao informed. (Maxim News)
