Food Safety Officials Raid Online Delivery Stories

Hyderabad, Aug 1 (Maxim News): Food Safety Department officials conducted extensive inspections on popular online delivery stores in the city. Inspections were conducted at 27 stores belonging to delivery companies like Jeptho, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Insta mart, and Big Basket and several deficiencies were identified.

The officials conducted these inspections based on several complaints received by the GHMC.  There were allegations that customers ordering online were being sent substandard or expired products.  Responding to this, officials of the food safety department collected 36 samples and sent them to the food safety lab for testing.

During the inspections, it was found that there were flies and mosquitoes roaming around in the stores, there was lack of cleanliness in the kitchens and storage areas, and the people working in the stores were also not following good safety standards, officials said.

Officials said that strict action will be taken against the establishments based on the results of the food safety testsThey said that cases will be registered and fines will be imposed on stores that do not follow the rules. 

Meanwhile, in recent times, consumer frustration with online food delivery services has increased.  Authorities are receiving a large number of complaints about  quality and hygiene deficiencies.  Consumers are demanding that food safety authorities take stricker action, keeping in mind the health of the public.  (Maxim News)
