GATE 2027 Registration | Hyderabad, Oct 3: Candidates planning to appear for GATE 2027 have an important deadline approaching. The regular registration window has been extended until October 5, 2026, without a late fee, according to the official GATE 2027 website.
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 is being organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Candidates can apply through the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).
Those who miss the October 5 deadline can submit applications during the extended window with a late fee until October 12, 2026, according to the current schedule.
GATE 2027 Introduces Robotics and Automation Paper
GATE 2027 has introduced Robotics and Automation (RA) as a new test paper. The total number of test papers remains at 30. Changes have also been made to the sectional paper codes for Engineering Sciences (XE), Humanities and Social Sciences (XH), and Life Sciences (XL). The syllabi have also been revised.
Candidates studying in the third year or higher of an eligible undergraduate degree programme can apply. Those who have already completed an eligible degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities can also appear.
There is no age limit for GATE 2027, and candidates can appear for the examination multiple times.
Indian nationals are required to use DigiLocker for registration. The official website has advised candidates not to delete the DigiLocker account used for their application after submitting the form and paying the fee.

Candidates can opt for either one paper or two papers from the combinations permitted by GATE 2027. Those choosing two papers must select both in the same application.
Candidates should submit only one application. Multiple applications may be rejected, and application fees are non-refundable.
GATE scores can be used for admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes in participating institutions. Several Public Sector Undertakings also use GATE scores as part of their recruitment processes. The GATE 2027 score remains valid for three years from the date of result announcement.

The GATE 2027 examinations are scheduled for February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027, with results scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2027.
