Nisshin, Oct. 3: Pakistan kept India under pressure in the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket final as Hasan Nawaz led the chase of 212 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Saturday.
India posted 211/6 after being asked to bat first. Abhishek Sharma provided the early fireworks with 61 off 28 balls, hitting three fours and seven sixes.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added 15 off nine balls before falling early, while Sanju Samson managed only two off four deliveries. India raced to 81 runs in the powerplay.
Pakistan fought back during the middle overs and restricted India to 137/5 after 15 overs. Arafat Minhas and Abrar Ahmed claimed important wickets as Pakistan slowed India’s scoring rate.

Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube then produced a late assault to take India beyond the 200-run mark.
Dube smashed 27 off 15 balls, while Varma remained unbeaten on 51 from just 22 deliveries. Varma hit three fours and four sixes.
India finished with 211/6 from their 20 overs, leaving Pakistan needing 212 for the gold medal.
Pakistan’s chase was led by Hasan Nawaz, who was unbeaten on 77 off 39 balls during the latest available update. Pakistan reached 158/4 after 16.5 overs and required 54 runs from 19 balls. Abdul Samad was unbeaten on eight.

The match is being played at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, with India and Pakistan meeting in the men’s Asian Games cricket final for the gold medal.
