General Elections: Curbs On Meeting, Processions

Hyderabad, April 8 (Maxim News): After reviewing the situation carefully and with a view of maintain public order, peace and tranquility in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on the polling day, April 11, Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, has issued the following prohibitory orders:-

Prohibit Assembly of persons and any kind of processions; Prohibit carrying of sticks either with or without flags, lathies, fire arms, or any other weapons which can be used as weapons for offence or defence by persons in processions, big gathering or meetings within a radius of one K.M. from the polling stations; Prohibit erection of temporary structures like Shamianas, pandals, Khannath etc., on thoroughfares, public places and all other places where public throng; Prohibit use of mikes/public address system by anybody or parties in the entire twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad; Prohibit music, singing or speeches or broadcasting through speakers or any other instruments; Prohibit making a speech, gesture or mimetic representation, exhibition or dissemination of pictures, symbols, placards or any other thing which is likely to create religious animosity or hatred between different communities or individuals or is likely to bring about commission of an offence of disturbance to or contempt of the law or of a lawful authority.

The following are exempted from the operation of this order:- Police Officers on duty; Military/Para Military personnel on duty; Home Guards on duty, and Election Officers on duty.

The public are hereby informed that any person violating the above orders shall be liable for prosecution. This order shall be in force with effect from 1800 hours on April 9 to 1800 hours on April 11. (Maxim News)
