Shiv Pratap Shukla advised prison officials to focus on reforming inmates instead of treating prisons only as confinement centres. He stated that creating a pleasant and positive atmosphere inside prisons can encourage behavioural change among prisoners.
According to the Governor, inmates do not always need to remain under strict isolation and restrictions. He said rehabilitation and emotional support are equally important in helping prisoners reintegrate into society.
The Governor further emphasised that modern prison reforms should aim at changing the mindset of inmates and preparing them for a better future after release.
During the programme, Director General of Prisons Soumya Mishra and several senior officials were present.
Officials explained various initiatives being implemented in Telangana prisons as part of rehabilitation and correctional reforms.
