Harish Rao Targets Government Over Crop Procurement
Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government failed to fully implement the farm loan waiver promise made before the elections.
He also criticised delays in procurement at paddy purchase centres despite the arrival of harvested produce.
According to him, rice millers were allegedly exploiting farmers by deducting one or two kilograms from each bag of paddy.
The former minister demanded immediate payment of the promised Rs 500 bonus per quintal along with pending grain payments.
He further alleged that sunflower farmers were waiting at procurement centres for nearly 20 days.
Harish Rao claimed the Centre purchased only part of the sunflower produce and urged the state government to procure the remaining 1.20 lakh quintals.
He also raised concerns over groundnut procurement and alleged that farmers were forced to sell produce to private traders below the support price.
The BRS leader questioned the delay in opening jowar procurement centres and sought relaxation in maize procurement limits.
He warned that the BRS would intensify protests if the government failed to procure all crops at support prices.
