Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Meteorological Center has forecasted rainfall across Telangana for the next three days, driven by a low-pressure system. Heavy rains are expected today in several districts, including Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sangareddy, and Kamareddy.
In response, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for nine districts across the state, cautioning residents and local authorities to stay prepared for potential disruptions. The alert covers Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, and Medak districts.
Meanwhile, Adilabad and Nizamabad districts are already experiencing intense rainfall. Since early morning, several mandals have seen continuous downpours, leading to rising water levels in local streams. The Chikaman stream in Sirikonda is flowing rapidly, disrupting traffic between multiple villages.
In Nirmal district, heavy floodwaters are flowing into the Kadem Reservoir. The Bhainsa Gaddenna Stream Project is also witnessing increased inflow. Currently, the project is releasing 4,571 cusecs of water downstream by lifting two gates, with the current inflow reported at 6,484 cusecs.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid low-lying areas, and follow updates from local authorities and weather departments.
