Higher Educational Institutions Should Promote Global Standards: Harichandan
Vijayawada, July 15 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan presided over the 24th and 25th Convocation of the University held at Thummalapalli Vari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram here, virtually from Raj Bhavan on Friday.
Delivering the convocation address, Governor Harichandan said the scope and demand for higher education are increasing day by day and the most important mission of higher education is the creation of intellectual minds by providing world-class education and promoting global standards in the Higher Education Institutions.
He said education plays a vital role in the nation’s development and constitutes the backbone of a country, as it produces a human force, which plays the most determining role in the advancement of a nation and in the progress of civilization. The progress of the country is possible when its citizens are dynamic, resourceful, enterprising, and responsible said the Governor. He also said that Higher education is considered an important instrument for bringing about social, economic, political, and technological progress in any country particularly in a developing country like India.
Harichandan congratulated all the graduating students, awardees of Gold Medals, and their parents, faculty members, and administrative staff for their commitment, creativity, and talent needed to succeed in their chosen careers. He hoped that the students would serve society and give back to the society that gave them the skills and knowledge to serve society by providing comprehensive health care.
Dr. G. Subrahmanyam, renowned Cardiologist, Research Director & Cardiologist of Sri Padmavathi Multi Speciality Hospital, Tirupati, who was the chief guest, delivered the keynote address and was presented the Degree of Doctor Science, Honoris Causa by the Vice Chancellor Dr. P. Shyam Prasad.
Earlier, Dr. P. Shyam Prasad, Vice Chancellor, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, read out the annual reports of the University. On behalf of the University, Dr. V. Vijayalakshmi and Dr. M. Manjulabai, felicitated the Chancellor by the presentation of a memento and shawl.
R.P. Sisodia, Special Chief Secretary to Governor, P.S. Surya Prakash Rao, Joint Secretary to Governor, and other officers attended the program at Raj Bhavan. (Maxim News)
