Hyderabad, July 26: The Recycling Pavilion at HIPLEX 2026 will demonstrate how discarded plastic can be transformed into useful products, including clothing, roads, railway sleepers, furniture and construction materials. The exhibition will be held from August 7 to 10 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad.
The organisers said the pavilion aims to change public perception by showing that plastic waste can become a valuable resource through recycling and innovation.
One of the pavilion’s main attractions will demonstrate how 25 discarded PET bottles can be converted into a T-shirt, showcasing the growing bottle-to-fashion movement.
Visitors will also see recycled plastic being used to manufacture roads, railway sleepers, bricks, benches, bus shelters, outdoor furniture and housing components. The pavilion promotes the message that recycling converts waste into a usable resource.
According to the organisers, India has built more than one lakh kilometres of roads using waste plastic, making the country a global leader in plastic road technology. Around one tonne of waste plastic can be used to construct one kilometre of road, improving durability and water resistance.
The exhibition will also feature recycled plastic furniture that offers resistance to rust, termites and weather while remaining recyclable at the end of its lifecycle.
Global examples of plastic recycling will also be displayed. These include recycled plastic houses in several countries, 3D-printed plastic bridges in the Netherlands and boats made from recovered canal plastic.
The pavilion will also highlight the growing use of recycled plastics in the fashion industry. Organisers noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously wore a jacket made from recycled PET bottle fabric under Indian Oil Corporation’s “Unbottled” initiative, bringing attention to bottle-to-fabric technology.
Industry experts participating in the exhibition said plastic itself is not the problem, but improper disposal is. They stressed that recycling provides sustainable solutions while creating economic value from plastic waste.
HIPLEX 2026 is expected to host more than 500 exhibitors and attract over 50,000 business visitors from India and overseas, making it one of the country’s largest exhibitions for plastics, polymers, recycling technologies and sustainable manufacturing.
