Hyderabad, July 8: Goshamahal police arrested a history sheeter on charges of extortion, cheating, criminal intimidation, and public nuisance following a complaint alleging harassment over a private loan.
According to police, the complainant alleged that he had borrowed Rs 4.5 lakh from the accused, Mukesh, on interest. Despite regularly paying the monthly interest, Mukesh allegedly demanded additional money unlawfully.
The complainant further alleged that on June 30, Mukesh, along with Vikas Singh, trespassed into his residence. They allegedly abused, threatened, and attempted to assault him and his family.
Police said the accused also allegedly pressured the complainant to withdraw a police complaint, causing fear and mental harassment.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 308(2) for extortion, 318(2) for cheating, 351(2) for criminal intimidation, 292 for public nuisance, and 79 read with Section 3(5).
During the investigation, police found that Mukesh is a history sheeter at Mangalhat police station and is listed as a suspect involved in ganja supply. Officials said he has previous criminal cases, including one registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Police also stated that Mukesh’s son, identified as Laddu, is an active rowdy sheeter at Mangalhat police station.
Following the investigation, Goshamahal police arrested Mukesh and produced him before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
