Home Appliance Prices Set To Rise From October 1

Hyderabad, Sept. 27: Consumers may face higher prices for home appliances from October 1, ahead of the Dasara and Diwali festive season.

Prices of air conditioners, LED TVs, washing machines and refrigerators are expected to increase as manufacturers face higher input and transportation costs.

Industry sources indicate that 2026 has already seen two rounds of price hikes in the sector. Another increase is expected from October.

Companies have cited rising prices of copper, steel and crude oil amid global tensions. Fluctuations in the rupee have also added pressure on production costs.

AC Prices May Rise by Up to 8 Percent

Air conditioner prices could rise by 5 to 8 percent from October 1. Prices of washing machines, refrigerators and LED TVs may increase by around 3 to 4 percent.

Some companies are still assessing market conditions before taking a final decision on price hikes.

Manufacturers had increased inventory during August and September to prepare for the festive season. As a result, products bought at older prices may remain available in the market for some time.

This could limit the immediate impact on retail prices until Diwali. However, prices could rise further after the festive season as new-cost inventory reaches retailers.

Godrej Enterprises Group has confirmed price increases across its appliance categories. Kamal Nandi said raw material costs have increased by 8 to 10 percent.

He said the company has already raised prices by around 5 to 7 percent across categories. The revised prices are expected to be implemented in phases between October and November.

Blue Star Managing Director B. Thiagarajan said prices of air conditioners and deep freezers have already increased by 5 to 8 percent.

He attributed the increase to higher commodity prices linked to global conflicts. Copper, steel and plastic costs have also increased, he said.

The festive season is important for the consumer electronics and appliance industry. Around 30 to 40 percent of annual appliance sales typically take place between Onam and Diwali.

Manufacturers now face the challenge of managing higher production costs while maintaining consumer demand during the crucial festive shopping period.
