Hyderabad, May 27 (Maxim News): Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Telangana government has launched plans to construct one lakh LIG houses in Hyderabad during the first phase of its major housing initiative for poor and middle class families.
The minister said the government is taking key steps to fulfil the dream of owning a house for economically weaker sections in the city. He added that officials have already started identifying suitable lands, preparing layouts, and planning infrastructure for the large scale housing programme.
On Wednesday, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, along with Mohammed Azharuddin and Asaduddin Owaisi, inspected several locations in Nampally, Malakpet, and Bahadurpura constituencies for the proposed LIG housing construction.
Hyderabad Housing Project Moves Forward
During the inspection, the ministers visited Kulsumpura, Afzal Sagar, Kaladera, and Gaddiannaram areas. They also examined several government buildings that are currently in a dilapidated condition.
Ponguleti said the government plans to utilise unused government lands and abandoned buildings for public welfare purposes. He stated that the main objective is to convert idle public assets into residential facilities for poor families.
The minister said the government, under the leadership of A. Revanth Reddy, is committed to improving living standards and providing better civic infrastructure for people across Hyderabad.
He stated that the LIG housing programme would help reduce the city’s growing housing problem. At the same time, the initiative aims to provide dignified housing facilities to poor and middle class families living in urban areas.
Moreover, Ponguleti said the government is speeding up the implementation process to ensure the project moves forward without delay. He added that officials are currently focusing on land identification, project planning, and infrastructure creation for the first phase of one lakh houses.
The minister reiterated that the government is giving high priority to welfare housing and urban development projects in Hyderabad. He expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly improve housing access for thousands of families in the city. (Maxim News)
