He asserted that everyone knows the sacrifices the Congress made for the formation of Telangana.

The Chief Minister was addressing a “Meet the Press” event at Taj Krishna, in Hyderabad on Sunday, ahead of the campaign deadline for the Jubilee Hills by-election, which ends at 5 PM today.

Congress Laid Strong Foundation for Telangana Growth

Revanth Reddy recalled several key decisions taken by the Congress government between 2004 and 2014 during the united Andhra Pradesh era.

He said then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy signed the first file for free power supply and waiver of farmers’ loans, clearing agricultural dues worth ₹1,300 crore. Those decisions, he said, transformed farming into a profitable occupation.

CM Revanth Reddy stated that Congress planned and initiated several irrigation projects, including Tummidihatti, Pranahita–Chevella, SRSP, Mid Manair, Sripada Yellampalli, and Devadula, under the “Jalayagnam” program for the state’s benefit.

Revanth Reddy also mentioned that during the N T Rama Rao period, Hyderabad faced drinking water shortages, and opposition leader P Janardhan Reddy helped bring Krishna river water to the city. These developmental works, he said, laid a strong foundation for Telangana’s progress.

The Chief Minister observed that Hyderabad’s rapid growth and revenue generation had once raised objections from Andhra leaders during the bifurcation process. He said the Congress government delivered good governance for a decade before statehood.

After Telangana’s formation, people voted the BRS to power for ten years, he said, but real people’s governance began only after the Congress returned. Revanth Reddy claimed that in the last two years, his government has initiated numerous welfare and development schemes. He added that former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s administration looted public money through the Kaleshwaram project, which allegedly cost the state ₹1 lakh crore.

Revanth Reddy emphasized that the Congress government ensured minimum support prices for crops and supported farmers.

He stated that Hyderabad’s current status as a preferred destination for global IT companies is due to reliable power and water supply provided during Congress rule. Around 70 percent of global IT companies in India now operate from Hyderabad, he added.

Concluding, he said the Congress left the state with ₹8 lakh crore in debt but continues to clear liabilities while implementing welfare programs. He asserted that Congress policies remain the driving engines of Telangana’s growth.
