The non-hormonal therapy, developed by Ayurveda clinician-turned-researcher at NIN, Dr. Vandana Singh, is a far better and safer alternative to the traditional Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT), which is associated with adverse effects such as vaginal bleeding, liver issues and increased risk of breast cancer, heart disease, and strokes, the researcher on Thursday said.

The non-hormonal therapy, developed by Dr. Vandana, under the mentorship of Dr. B. Dinesh Kumar, former Scientist G and Head of Drug Division, NIN, addresses menopausal syndrome, which is expected to affect over 1.2 billion women worldwide by 2023.  The patented non-hormonal formulation, featuring indigenous grass as a key ingredient, follows Ayurveda principles and includes scientific validation.  According to the researcher, the no-hormonal patented formulation helps with osteoporosis, fatty liver, and metabolic syndrome.

With the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advising restrictions on the long-term use of hormonal replacement therapies, Dr. Vandana pointed out that the patented non-hormonal therapy is a far safer and more effective alternative to the existing treatment modalities.  “Our therapy is non-carcinogenic, even with long-term use.  It is eco-friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable, she said.

The researcher pointed out that non-hormonal therapy is a safe and effective solution that aims to enhance the quality of life of menopausal women.  The work has already been recognized globally, including a shortlist for the Alice and Albert Netter Prize 2023 by the European Society of Gynecology.

Our study has been published in several scientific journals and acknowledged by peer review groups and professional societies, ” she said.  (Maxim News)
