Hyderabad, June 10: The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked a scooter rider for allegedly using a fake registration number to evade traffic challans, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused was identified as P Arun Goud (26), a resident of Sangareddy district.
According to police, Arun Goud allegedly used a cloned registration number on his scooter. The number belonged to a vehicle owned by a Hyderabad resident.
As a result, traffic challans generated for violations committed by the scooter were reportedly issued to the genuine vehicle owner.
Based on information provided by the Hyderabad Traffic Police, the Sangareddy Town Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
Officials said efforts are underway to identify the scooter’s original registration number and verify other details related to the vehicle.
The traffic police warned that using fake, forged, or tampered registration plates is a serious offence under the law.
They also stated that advanced surveillance systems, including CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, are being extensively used to detect such violations and identify offenders.
Further investigation is in progress.
