Guwahati, June 13: An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft reportedly caught fire shortly after landing at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday, prompting an immediate emergency response.
According to initial reports, flames and thick smoke were seen emerging from the aircraft soon after it touched down at the airbase.
Air Force personnel and emergency response teams quickly rushed to the scene and initiated firefighting operations to contain the blaze.
Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire. The extent of damage to the aircraft is also being assessed.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or injuries among the crew members. Authorities are expected to issue a detailed statement after a preliminary investigation.
The AN-32 is a twin-engine military transport aircraft extensively used by the Indian Air Force for logistics, troop movement and supply missions, particularly in challenging terrains and high-altitude regions.
