Hyderabad, July 30: An 18-year-old Intermediate student allegedly died by suicide after reportedly being humiliated and slapped by a lecturer at his college in Telangana’s Jogulamba Gadwal district.
The deceased, Nettibotu Tarun, was a resident of Kothapalli village and was pursuing his second year Intermediate at the Government Junior College, Gadwal.
Suicide note recovered, police begin investigation
According to a complaint lodged by his brother, Telugu Mohan, Tarun had recently secured 434 out of 440 marks in his first-year Intermediate examinations, ranking second in the district.
Police said Tarun allegedly died by suicide at his residence on Tuesday by hanging himself from a ceiling fan using a saree while family members were away.
During the investigation, police recovered a two-page suicide note written by the student on an examination pad. The contents of the note are being examined as part of the investigation.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the student’s death, including allegations that he was humiliated and slapped by a lecturer.
Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
