Internet, July 23: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a series of bilateral meetings with senior foreign leaders on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila on Thursday, discussing regional cooperation and strategic partnerships.
The meetings included interactions with the foreign ministers of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as well as the European Union’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas.
Jaishankar Holds Bilateral Meetings at ASEAN Forum
Jaishankar met Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman during the ARF Ministerial Meeting.
Sharing details on X, he said he was pleased to meet both leaders on the sidelines of the regional forum.
The External Affairs Minister also held talks with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission.
In a separate post on X, Jaishankar described the meeting as a good opportunity to catch up with the EU’s top diplomat.
Earlier on Wednesday, Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with both sides reviewing developments in the Middle East and the Indo Pacific.
According to the US State Department, the two leaders also discussed defence cooperation and agreed to accelerate work on key defence agreements while moving towards concluding an interim bilateral trade agreement.
