Jeevan’s Sarcastic Remarks On Liquor Prices Hike

Hyderabad, Dec.17 (Maxim News): Congress party MLC T Jeevan Reddy on Tuesday said that the economic slowdown being witnessed by the country had its impact on the annual budget of the state government.

He said that the Congress party was commending the chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to increase the income of the state government by increasing the prices of the liquor . He sarcastically said that his party was praising the CM for increasing the liquor prices and targeting an income of Rs.25,000 crore per annum. He said that the state government used to make Rs. 10,000 crore income through the sale of liquor. He said that the state government would earn an income of Rs.60,000 crore from the sale of liquor alone . He made it clear that the burden would be transferred to the people of the state as they would be forced to buy the liquor by paying extra money.

Reddy said that the income expected by the state government from the sale of liquor would be half of the total budget of the state government. Referring to the statement of the ruling TRS party leader that they were trying to compete with its counterpart in Andhra Pradesh in the sale of the liquor, he said that the AP government had not only closed down the liquor shops but also reduced the timing of the sales. He alleged that the state had more belt shops than the actual shops in the state. (Maxim News)
