Ranchi, August 7: Student organisations in Jharkhand will stage a Vidhan Sabha March on Friday as protests over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) entered the 14th day. The march is expected to intensify pressure on the state government to address the students’ demands for transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
The protest march will begin at 11 am and proceed towards the Jharkhand Assembly during the ongoing Monsoon Session. Organisers have appealed to job aspirants and students from across the state to join the demonstration in large numbers.
Students Demand Fair Recruitment and Judicial Probe
The protesters are demanding that the recruitment process conducted by the JPSC and JSSC be made corruption free. They have sought the cancellation of allegedly tainted recruitment examinations and the constitution of a judicial inquiry into the alleged irregularities.
Student organisations clarified that the movement is not aimed at seeking the resignation of any individual. Instead, they said their focus is on ensuring a transparent and credible recruitment system that protects the interests of lakhs of job aspirants in Jharkhand.
The agitation has been underway at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, where representatives of several student organisations have expressed solidarity with the protesters. The movement has gained support from various youth groups, adding momentum to the campaign.
Student leader Devendra Mahto continued his indefinite hunger strike as part of the agitation. Despite continuous rainfall, protesters remained at the demonstration site overnight and vowed to continue their struggle until the government takes concrete action.
The organisers also stressed that the agitation is entirely non political. They said the protest is being sustained through voluntary public support, with local temples and social organisations providing food and refreshments to the participants.
The Assembly march marks the next phase of the ongoing movement as students seek greater transparency, accountability, and fairness in Jharkhand’s public recruitment process.
