Kachiguda Police Save Youth From Suicide Attempt on Railway Tracks

Hyderabad, May 26 (Maxim News) : In a swift operation, Kachiguda Police rescued a 24 year old youth who allegedly attempted suicide on the railway tracks at Kachiguda Railway Station late on Monday night.

The incident took place around 10.30 pm on the intervening night of May 25 and 26. Police said HC D. Yugandhar, Section In-charge of Kachiguda Police Station, received a distress call from V. Nagaraju, a resident of Tadipatri in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district.

Nagaraju informed police that his son, Niranjan, was suffering from severe mental depression. He also stated that his son had sent him a video clip saying he was standing on the railway tracks at Kachiguda Railway Station and planned to end his life.

Niranjan, who works as a supervisor at Jairaj Steels in Kurnool, had reportedly travelled to Hyderabad before the incident.

After receiving the alert, Kachiguda Police Station SHO S. Rajashekhar immediately instructed the Blue Colt I team to rush to the railway station.

Police constables V. Chandra Peddiraju and S. Bala Mallesh reached the station within minutes and launched a frantic search operation across the railway premises.

The police team finally traced Niranjan standing on the railway tracks near Platform Number 5. The Blue Colt personnel quickly alerted the Government Railway Police and safely pulled him away from the tracks before any train approached the platform.

Officials said the timely response and coordination between the Kachiguda Police and Government Railway Police helped avert a major tragedy.

After the rescue, Niranjan was handed over to the Government Railway Police for further legal formalities, counseling and safe custody.

Police officials appreciated the prompt action of the Blue Colt team and said their alertness helped save the young man’s life.

The police also appealed to people facing emotional distress, depression or mental health issues to seek help from family members, friends or professional counselors instead of taking extreme steps. (Maxim News)
