Harish Rao spoke to the media at BRK Bhavan after the Kaleshwaram Commission inquiry was over. Today, I was summoned as part of the Kaleshwaram Commission inquiry. All the questions asked by the commission were answered. Answers were provided to the commission with evidence. It is not right to talk about politics while attending the commission inquiry. If there is any politics, let’s talk about it tomorrow. Harish Rao stated that it would be wrong to say one thing behind closed doors and another outside.

There was a long discussion on why the barrage was shifted from Tummidi Hatti to Medigadda in the first place, for that, I, the newly formed Telangana government, made all kinds of efforts to build the project near Tummidi Hatti. When I was reviewed as the Irrigation Minister, the previous Congress government called for tenders for 7 packages of the life-threatening project in 27 parts. The Congress government dug the tail works without starting the head works, said Harish Rao.

The Maharashtra Congress Irrigation Minister Hasan Musharraf was met just a month after the Telangana government was formed. The then Maharashtra Congress Minister Hasan Musharraf was requested not to give permission for the construction of the project at Tummidi Hatti, Hasan Musharraf who was the Irrigation Minister said that the people of the flooded villages have been protesting against our government for many days. Under no circumstances will we agree to the construction of the project at a height of 152 meters. It is said that the Chief Minister of that state Chouhan had told the then joint AP Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy that he would agree to the construction of this project at a height of 152 meters. We have also brought this matter to the attention of the commission, said Harish Rao.

Five or six meetings were held between Maharashtra and Telangana for the construction of the project at Tummidi Hatti. After the Congress government left and the BJP government came to power in Maharashtra, the Irrigation Minister was against requested to cooperate in the construction of the project at Tummidi Hatti, as Telangana needed water, KCR himself went to Maharashtra and met BJP Chief Minister Fadnavis in the presence of the then Governor Vidyasagar Rao. Harish Rao recalled that Fadnavis had fought many battles against the construction of this project on behalf of the BJP party against the Congress government that preceded us for seven years, and now permission for the project cannot be given under any circumstances, saying that he was the one who fought many battles against the construction of this project.

Congress at the Centre, Congress in Maharashtra and Congress in Andhra Pradesh have not obtained a single permission for seven years. Not a single inter-state agreement has been signed. Not even a single plot of land has been acquired. The Congress government has completely failed in the construction of the project at Tummidi Hatti. Komati Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy, who are ministers from Telangana, have not cared. The Central Water Commission has written a letter to find an alternative for the construction of the project, saying that there is no water availability at Tummidi Hatti. Similarly, the CWC has written a letter saying that the capacity of the reservoirs proposed in the Tummidi Hatti project is also inadequate and has written a letter to increase the reservoirs to meet the capacity. In this context KCR has requested the central government agency WAPCOS to select the barrage construction site. The Central Agency WAPCOS conducted a survey and examination and said that there is water availability at Medigadda and the project can be constructed there. Harish Rao said that the project was constructed at Medigadda as per the suggestions of WAPCOS, Central Water Commission and engineers.

The Congress government has not convinced the neighboring state government for seven years. Similarly in Maharashtra where the Chaparral wildlife is located, it is flooded. To get wildlife permits, one has to fight in the Supreme Court for at least 10 years. If the Congress proposes a project where there is no water, the BRS government has proposed a project where there is water. All kinds of evidence, letters written by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and all the G.O.s have been submitted to the commission, said Harish Rao.

He said that a reservoir with a capacity of 141 TMC has been built. They are talking about Kaleshwaram while making a fuss about it. There are 100 parts in Kaleshwaram. All are intact. In the Kaleshwaram project, 3 barrages, 15 reservoirs, 19 sub-stations, 21 pump houses, 203 kilometers of tunnels, 1,531 kilometers of gravity canals, 98 kilometers of pressure mains, 141 TMC storage capacity, 530 meters of lift, 240 TMC of water consumption. Harish Rao said that all are completely intact.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Gandamalla project. The water for this project will be taken from Mallanna Sagar. Mallanna Sagar is part of the Kaleshwaram project. They are saying that water will be diverted from Mallanna Sagar for the beautification of Musi in Hyderabad. that Mallanna Sagar is an integral part of Kaleshwaram. Similarly, they are saying that drinking water will be provided to Hyderabad from Mallanna Sagar. Isn’t that that part of Kaleshwaram? Tenders will be called for the Gandamalla project, which depends on Mallanna Sagar, and the foundation stone will be laid. Harish Rao was furious that they would spread misinformation that Kaleshwaram had collapsed. (Maxim News)
