Hyderabad: The Crafts Council of Telangana (CCT) has launched Kausalyam 2026, a major exhibition celebrating India’s rich textile and craft heritage, at Anvaya Convention, Financial District, Hyderabad. The event brings together artisans, designers, textile revivalists, and craft entrepreneurs from across the country while supporting traditional craft communities.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Tuesday by members of the Crafts Council of Telangana. It opened for select visitors on the first day, while the public can visit the exhibition from July 15, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., with free entry.
Over 120 Stalls and 75 Textile Exhibitors
Organised once every five years in collaboration with renowned textile revivalist Gaurang Shah, Kausalyam 2026 features more than 75 textile studios and craft exhibitors and over 120 stalls showcasing handcrafted products, artisan collections, and traditional Indian textiles.
The exhibition also includes over 40 curated handmade collections, a Museum of Textiles, and Conversations with Craftpreneurs, offering visitors an opportunity to interact with artisans, designers, and creative entrepreneurs.
Among the cultural highlights are Sita Anveshana, a Telugu-English leather puppetry performance, and Virata Parvam, a Cheriyal Scroll storytelling experience enhanced with Augmented Reality (AR).
Funds to Support Artisan Communities
The proceeds from Kausalyam 2026 will be used to revive the Bharoon Embroidery Cluster, an endangered Sindhi embroidery tradition sustained primarily by women artisans, along with other artisan development initiatives.
The Crafts Council of Telangana, a voluntary non-profit organisation established in 1987, has been working for nearly four decades to preserve traditional crafts, promote handmade products, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for artisans through exhibitions, cultural programmes, and public engagement initiatives.
The event aims to strengthen appreciation for India’s handmade traditions while promoting sustainability, cultural exchange, and artisan entrepreneurship.
Among the prominent visitors on the opening day were Geetha Reddy, wife of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Nara Bhuvaneshwari, wife of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Surekha Konidela, wife of actor Chiranjeevi.
