Hyderabad: The immersion procession of the towering Khairatabad Maha Ganesh idol began on Friday morning, September 25, marking the start of one of Hyderabad’s major Ganesh immersion events.
The 69-foot idol was moved around 50 metres from the pandal on a specially arranged vehicle after preparations for the immersion began.
Darshan was suspended at midnight to facilitate the arrangements. Workers then removed sheds and supporting structures before moving the idol towards the immersion route.

This year’s idol depicts Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati, a five-faced form of Lord Ganesha.
The eco-friendly idol was crafted using natural river clay, sand and paddy straw. Artisans from four states were involved in its construction.
The installation also featured a 15-foot Somnath Jyotirlinga and an image of Kalika Mata.
According to the arrangements made by the authorities, the procession will move from Khairatabad alongside the Telugu Talli flyover.
It will then pass through the Secretariat before proceeding towards Tank Bund for immersion.
Authorities have planned to complete the immersion by noon. Security and other arrangements have been made along the procession route to facilitate the movement of the idol and devotees.
