Hyderabad, Sept. 8: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), former minister T Harish Rao and other BRS MLAs were arrested by police on Tuesday while heading towards KCR’s residence in Erravelli.
The BRS leaders were stopped at Hakimpet after leaving the Assembly. Police subsequently took them to Bowenpallypolice station.
According to BRS leaders, the MLAs were heading to Erravelli after learning about alleged plans to target former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence.
The leaders alleged that Congress supporters were planning an attack on KCR’s residence. These claims have not been independently verified.
BRS MLAs Confront Police at Hakimpet
Police stopped the vehicles carrying KTR, Harish Rao and other BRS MLAs at Hakimpet.
MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and KP Vivekananda reportedly questioned the police action. Kaushik Reddy also objected to the attempt to prevent the leaders from travelling to Erravelli.
An argument reportedly broke out between the BRS leaders and police personnel during the confrontation.
After police stopped their vehicles, KTR, Harish Rao and other BRS leaders began walking from Bollaram crossroads towards Erravelli.
Police subsequently stopped the march and took the BRS leaders into custody. They were shifted to Bowenpally police station. (Maxim News)
