Kurnool Bus Incident: Ex-Gratia of Rs 5 Lakh For Deceased, Rs 2 Lakh For Injured

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (Maxim News) : The Telangana government announced financial assistance for victims of the fatal bus accident near Chinnatekur on the outskirts of Kurnool, where 20 people have been reported dead so far.

Officials said the retrieval of bodies is underway on a war footing and emergency teams are continuing operations at the site. They added that 23 passengers survived the crash, while the toll may rise as rescue work progresses.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the government will provide Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.

He also announced Rs 2 lakh for those injured. He stated that the administration is coordinating with hospitals and local authorities to ensure immediate support reaches affected families.

Therefore, the relief package is aimed at providing urgent assistance alongside medical care.

The minister assured that injured passengers are being provided quality treatment. He said hospitals have been directed to prioritize casualties from the accident and to maintain adequate medical supplies and specialist support.

 Meanwhile, officials are monitoring the condition of the injured and arranging further referrals if required.

Then, follow-up assessments will guide any additional support for long-term recovery.

Authorities emphasized that rescue and recovery will continue until all victims are accounted for and families are informed through proper channels.

They urged the public to avoid crowding the accident location to keep access routes free for emergency vehicles.
